Working closely with the waste transport company Warrens Group, Warrens Emerald Biogas converts food waste collected locally into renewable energy, biofertiliser and biomethane Gas – via an onsite fuel station this gas is then used by collection vehicles.
The biomethane produced is also injected into the local Gas Grid, helping to heat local homes and businesses as a renewable alternative to natural gas.
Since opening in 2012, the plant has gone through expansion, increasing output capacity to almost 7 times of the original design in the space of ten years.
