Acquired by Bio Capital in January 2025, the plant is currently being refurbished to bring it back into full service in two phases.
The first phase will enable the plant to inject biomethane into the grid, thereby increasing Bio Capital’s overall national capabilities in this growth market. In the second phase, the plant will be brought back into full service and High Hedley Biogas will generate renewable energy through anaerobic digestion, transforming waste into biomethane, electricity and biofertiliser.
Once fully operational, the plant will support the UK’s green energy transition by reducing landfill emissions and supplying low-carbon energy into the national grid.
