ADBA Awards 2022 – A Double Win Debut!

Thursday, 15th June 2022 marked our first time as a group in attending the ADBA Awards. The event ended on a high for the team, celebrating a double award win!!

Health and Safety Award

The first Bio Capital achievement of the night went to Energen Biogas, who were honoured with “The Health and Safety Award”. The judges noted the continuous improvement of Health and Safety at the core of site operations.

Energen Site Manager, John Wilson said: “During 2021 we achieved significant improvements in reporting, thanks to a new reporting software system being utilised effectively by our team. We saw a decrease in incidents, successfully met our site targets and made innovative use of team toolbox talks.”

The North Lanarkshire site’s proactive approach continues as their focus is now set on achieving accreditations including ISO45001 and the ADCS.

Rising Star Award

The second win of the night went to Timothy Hamill, Plant Manager at Granville Eco Park. He scooped the ‘AD Rising Star Award. This exciting, talent award recognises an individual who has been part of the industry for less than 5 years yet made a truly impressive mark.

Starting at Granville Eco Park in 2017, Tim had become Plant Manager by 2021, stepping into the role at just 25 years of age. His first few months in the role saw an impressive recovery to pre-pandemic food waste processing targets. He has seen a series of internal successes and personal achievements including completing an MBA.

CTO David McKee said: “I have had the pleasure of working with Tim for over 4 years, he has gained responsibility via hard work, dedication and a willingness to learn. This recognition is thoroughly deserved and we are excited to follow Tim’s growth in the years ahead.”

The ceremony, held in The Vox, Birmingham, hosted by the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) and the World Biogas Association (WBA) recognises excellence and innovation in the UK and global biogas sector.

Receiving this industry recognition is fantastic as our sites across the Bio Capital Group continue to make an active contribution to the UK’s transition to Net Zero, with a strong team and high standards at our core.
