Simpler Recycling!

New “Simpler Recycling” legislation came into force two weeks ago. All businesses and workplaces in England with 10 or more full-time employees must now separate dry recyclables, food waste and general black bin waste.

By standardising collections and making recycling more consistent across England, the legislation aims to improve recycling rates and reduce waste going to landfill. It’s hoped this will drive up recycling levels from their current 44-45% to 65% by 2035.

But many businesses are still unaware or not prepared. As the UK’s leading anaerobic digestion (AD) business, we are working with businesses and local authorities across the UK.

Collecting food waste, taking it to our nationwide network of AD plants and producing green electricity and gas. In 2024, we produced enough power to provide electricity to over 100,000 UK households!

Over the coming months, we will be closely following the rollout of the new legislation and how businesses are adapting.
