Our biofertiliser, Energro, is a sustainable and nutrient-rich product with the ability to replace carbon-intensive artificial fertilisers. Created solely from food waste and agricultural materials such as maize, its wide range of major, macro and micro nutrients can significantly reduce or even eliminate the need for artificial fertilisers. It also contains organic matter, which over time can help maintain soil structure and improve drought tolerance.
Accreditation to PAS110 and the Biofertiliser Certification Scheme means Energro is quality-assured, and every tonne of artificial fertiliser replaced with Energro could save 1 tonne of oil, 108 tonnes of water and 7 tonnes of C02.
The result of our in-vessel composting process is a high quality compost – we are proud to have achieved PAS100 Certification for this product. A nutrient-rich, nature positive and chemical-free compost, we produce approx. 20,000 tonnes annually.
Composting is nature’s way of recycling. It creates a material rich in organic matter, with slow-release nutrients to reduce the need for artificial fertilisers.
Compost benefits the receiving soil because of its mix of decaying organic matter that is packed with microbes, which can help to naturally improve the structure and health of the soil, helping it retain moisture and nutrients.
Our biomethane gas is a low-carbon, methane-based fuel that is produced by upgrading the biogas we create.
As a renewable gas, it helps to lessen emissions and, therefore, accelerates the reduction of greenhouse gasses (GHG). The use of biomethane is two-fold:
Some of our sites inject this fuel directly into the Gas grid decarbonising local homes and business. Plus our transport customers are utilising this fuel via our fuelling stations in the North East and N.Ireland.
In addition it can be used in mobile energy – as seen in Granville Energy Supply.
As biomethane is compatible with natural gas engines and appliances, it can often be ready to use with minimal disruption.
